Welfare Officer Services

Circumstances changed - Health, Hospitalisation, Death, Accident or Other?

Then notify the Association's Hon Welfare Officer.

Paul Vanderveer has volunteered his services to act as the association's point of contact for members who are experiencing an "up-hill battle", whatever the cause. While Paul will not be able to visit, solve or fix it, he can respond on behalf of the Association with an appropriate letter or card and can notify other members of the executive at Committee Meetings. Paul can also arrange for an entry in the next issue of Gunfire and updates where appropriate.

As often these things happen without much warning it is appropriate for members to brief a friend or relative about their desire to notify the RAA Association (NSW) of their changed circumstances.

Paul says:

"With the age of our members increasing, the possibility of ailments, accidents and other medical problems also becomes more prevalent. Problems incurred, whether physical or mental, normally only receive close support from any immediate family and any support from outside acquaintances, such as our association members may add that extra feeling of wellbeing to the "Patient".

As such, I feel that the welfare officer can supply this, be it only by means of a letter, by expressing sentiments in respect of their problem. I intend to write each such letter on a personal and individual basis (Not a form letter) expressing the feelings of our association, the welfare officer and possibly any of his personal mates of which we are aware.

Any person who reports such a support request to the association, may do so by use of my Email address, stating fully the name of the person involved, his address, hospital details, unit in which he served and names of his mates he would like me to mention.

In cases where a member has passed on, I a letter of condolence will be sent providing sufficient details are available."
