Gunners Challenge Golf Day 2009

The 2009 Gunners Golf Day was held on Sun 1 Nov, at the Georges River Golf Course, where the various Artillery Units and associations played for the Royal Artillery Association of NSW Golf Shield. The team which won the right to have and hold the Shield for the next 12 months was the team representing 1 Fd Regt Assn of NSW. The day was enjoyed by all who attended, the weather was perfect, the course was challenging and a fantastic Rump steak meal was served after the game.

This year the event made a small profit and the Association Committee decided to donate it to Legacy. This is to be repeated in future years, so as well as catching up with fellow gunners, enjoying the game and a superb meal, we also get to support a most worthy charity.

The winning 1 Fd Regt Assn Team of Neil Dibley, Kevin Grant and Clem Hefferman, being presented with the Shield by Vic Willey.

The RAAA(NSW) team of Schon Condon, Michael Pearce and Vic Willey, was pipped into 2nd place by only 1 stroke this year.

And just pipped into 3rd place this year was the 23 Fd Regt team comprising LTCOL Paul Landford, WO1 Craig Clifford, WO2 Gavin Dimond and WO2 Ian Ramsay.

The RAAA(NSW) President Schon Condon announcing that his firm Condon Associates are donating a shield to be competed for on an annual basis, by those participants who do not qualify to compete for the Artillery Shield.

And the first time winners of the new Condon Associates Shield this year shown here are Ken Pearce, John Giacco and Joe Russo

Once again Vic Willey organised, and executed, a very successful occasion, and we are all looking forward to the next Golf Challenge Day.

The next occasion the "owners" of the Shield will be challenged, will be in early November 2010.
