Reserve Forces Day 2009

The Reserve Forces Day celebration held on Sunday 5 July in Sydney saw Reservists from the three services gathered on one of Sydney's traditional 'parade grounds' The Domain.

The Artillery Association Band, drawn mainly from former members of the 18 LAA Regimental Band, played incidental music to entertain the gathering crowd.

Proceedings commenced when the RACT Pipes & Drums marched onto the ground.

Following were the combined military bands of the Reserve regiments, Army Band Newcastle, UNSWR Band, and 1/15 RNSWL Lancer Band.

Her Excellency, Professor Marie Bashir, AC CVO motored onto the parade, escorted by a troop of Light Horse.

18 LAA Regt Association - standard bearers peeled off to reform for the final salute to the Governor.

21 Fd Regt Association joined by members of 9 HAA/LAA Regts Associations for the occasion.

23 Field Regiment Association   The unit standard bearers presented their standards to the Governor, after which they retired to participate in a number of reunions.

Ferret Scout Car from 1/15 RNSWL Museum and Don R Rider on Harley Davidson. The Ferrets 'held ground' on the edge of the parade ground.   The gunners moved to the NSW Rugby Club that had opened their facilities for us. This proved to be a great venue and one that we hope will be available for future reunions such as Anzac Day.
